comedy goddess trapped in body of ordinary woman
Blonde, funny, married to a great guy... but enough about Sarah Michelle Geller! Let's talk about me.
A long time ago, while I was figuring out what to do with my life, I accidentally got married, and had 20 childen. Okay, it's closer to 4. Okay, I have 4 kids. All boys. That's all we can do, apparently. But as luck would have it, I really love having 4 boys. In fact, I have the kind of sense of humour you would usually expect to find in a teenage boy. Actually, if it weren't for my girl parts, and the ability to multi-task and produce tiny humans, I'd pretty much be one.
As well as being a mother, I'm a stand-up comedian and a psychiatric nurse. You will not believe how closely related these three things actually are. I'm thirty-twelve years old. I'm not ashamed to tell you how old I am, but I just can't say the 'F' word (42) - still dealing.
I live in Victoria, Australia, with my testosterone heavy family and a black dog who thinks she's a person. Maybe she is a person. Who am I to judge? She may just be hirsuit. We live on 5 acres of what I like to call 'How's the serenity'.
I write columns for The Age, The Herald Sun, Marie Claire and Madison. I don't actually send them in. But still. I write them.
I did send a piece in to a couple of papers once actually, but amazingly, they didn't publish it. Apparently, you have to already be quite famous to get something published, (and therefore become famous). I know! I was surprised too.
So this kind of is my 'column'. Expect to see my daily rants, the occasional plug for my own gigs, and for other comedians' shows, books, and otherwise cool projects. There might be reviews and interviews. There will be funny videos, so I can direct people-I -know-who-are-too-lazy-to check- out-YouTube-themselves to stuff that really needs to be seen, with a view to encouraging them to appreciate popular culture, and discouraging them from trying to engage me in conversation about 'the economy'.
I tend to overuse the word 'awesome. I can't help it - it's an awesome word. I love great tv, but probably my favourite show was 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer'. I got into it when I was up late breastfeeding. As you do. I'm great at parallel parking, but bad at maths and map reading. This is not that big a deal to me, because I don't care for maths or maps. Besides, you can get tiny machines that do those things for you, but can you get a machine that will execute an awesome parallel park for you? I think not.
That's pretty much it. I'm just your average, every day, thirty-twelve year old Buffy loving psychiatric nurse comedian blog addicted mother of four. I hope you get something out of my rants and ramblings. I will be checking in on this blog daily - just to see what I come up with!
my kids, stand-up, writing, blogging, great tv, great movies, great music, reading, surfing the goddamned internet, buffy, dark chocolate, the beach, the perfect steak... you know - stuff!
